Quincy, MA – Dependable Cleaners has announced recent winners in its Read to Ride summer reading contest, sponsored by Dependable Cleaners, The Patriot Ledger, Farina’s Bicycle Center, and Bikes Not Bombs. Runner up prizes provided by Feenan Financial, McDevitt Law Group, British Beer Company, Dependable Cleaners, and So Big Marketing.
The Week 6 winner was Austin M., 10, from Belmont. Austin picked his new bike from Farina’s Bicycle Center in Watertown, one of the Read to Ride program’s sponsors.
Although Austin’s family does not have a Dependable Cleaners location near them, that didn’t stop Austin’s grandmother from making sure he could participate in Read to Ride. “She’s a regular at the Watertown Dependable Cleaners and knew Austin would love the program. She brought him the entry forms every week when she came to visit, he would fill them out, and she would bring them back to the Watertown store when she dropped off her dry cleaning. Grandma’s the real MVP,” jokes Russell, Austin’s father.
Austin is looking forward to starting 5th grade, where his favorite subject is math. When he’s not reading, he’s playing soccer, helping out in the garden, playing with his two labradoodles, and doing arts and crafts.
The 2019 Read to Ride summer reading program has concluded for the year. Running from May to August, Read to Ride is an annual summer reading program that encourages students aged 5-15 to read books during summer vacation for the chance to win a bike. We would like to thank all the students, schools, libraries and local organizations who participated and made this year a success. We appreciate the community support and are proud to have engaged over 350 students this year to read over 2,580 books!
