“Grand Unzipping” at Dependable Cleaners
QUINCY — Dependable Cleaners hosted the grand re-opening of it’s 320 Quincy Ave. location on Tuesday, March 12 after a devastating fire destroyed the building in July 2012.
Quincy Mayor Thomas Koch, and Quincy City Councilor Brad L. Croall were on hand to help Dependable Cleaners’ CEO and President Christa Hagearty unzip the brand new store and dry cleaning facility.
“It has been a long road recovering from the horrible fire that destroyed the original location in July 2012; however the unwavering support we received from the Mayor Thomas Koch and his office as well as our City Councilor Brad L. Croall is what allowed us to survive and thrive in the face of this setback,” said Hagearty. “My family, the community, and the fantastic team at Dependable Cleaners have stepped up since day one to help us to recover and for that I will be forever grateful.”
For over 65 years, Dependable Cleaners has provided cleaning services throughout greater Boston and southern Mass.
The Quincy branch will now operate from an energy efficient 8,400 square foot building. It will include a 2,000 square foot laundromat area with GreenEarth cleaning machines, energy efficient lighting and high efficiency boilers.
Instead of a traditional ribbon cutting ceremony, the team at Dependable Cleaners unveiled the new building by unzipping a giant zipper of their own creation. That tradition was first started by Christa’s father, Don Fawcett Jr., in 1982 at the grand opening of the 320 Quincy Avenue location.
