5 Rules to Storing Seasonal Clothing

Share

The time has come to pack up our winter wardrobe – finally! We know this task can turn into quite the project. Follow these tips to make storing seasonal clothing and unpacking it simple.

Location, Location, Location

If you want your favorite sweater to survive the spring and summer seasons you must choose the proper location. Moths and moisture are enemy #1 when it comes to storing seasonal clothing! Remember – cool, dark and dry are the elements you want to look for in a storage location.

Organize

It may seem easier to toss everything into a storage container and call it a day, but you will regret it come next winter! Organize items by style or what location they live in when not in storage. This way everything can quickly find its place next year!

Label

Organization’s best friend is definitely labeling. Nothing is worse than having to dig through every container to find what you are looking for – so make your life easier and label everything!

Donate

While you are organizing is the perfect time to take a look at your wardrobe and get rid of what you don’t need or no longer wear. We all have those shirts that have been hanging around in our closet for far too long without being worn. Now is the time to donate these items to charity. Added bonus, the extra room will make for a more organized closet!

Spring Cleaning

As you go through the items you are planning on storing, sort out which ones are in need of dry cleaning or repairs. Again – this will make unpacking stored items a breeze!
