This week, Style caught up with one of our longtime clients, Firas Yousif. Firas is the owner of Firas Yousif Originals, a couture bridal and formalwear designer located at 35 Newbury Street in Boston.
STYLE: How did you come into your current business, and what motivates you to succeed in your career?
FIRAS YOUSIF: I have been designing bespoke and couture garments for the last 23 years. My designs evolve year after year to continually achieve higher levels of sophistication in my design aesthetic.
STYLE: How do you incorporate fashion into your day-to-day life?
FY: I live it daily and that is all I do! I meet with existing and potential clients every day to discuss their wants and needs for their upcoming events. I specialize in weddings, galas and red-carpet events.
STYLE: What are some of your favorite current fashion trends or styles? Who is your biggest fashion influence?
FY: Trends are ever-changing. While I study ongoing trends, my designs are timeless while incorporating modern elements. I remain influenced by European designer houses such as Dior, Valentino, YSL, Oscar de la Renta, etc.
STYLE: What are some of your “foundation wardrobe pieces,” or, the pieces in your wardrobe that you have cared for by Style that are essential to your career and lifestyle aesthetic?
FY: Personally, I have a number of identical black and navy suits that Style cares for meticulously. I also have a large collection of shirts and fine silk ties that I wear to change my suit’s “look.” For my clients, I always recommend the services offered by Style to care for their couture garments and to clean and/or preserve their bridal gowns.
