5 Simple Ideas for Setting Your Thanksgiving Table
When you think of Thanksgiving the first thing that typically comes to mind is cooking and eating food. We spend hours finding the perfect recipe and perfecting everyone’s favorite dish. Sometimes we don’t even realize we have to actually set a table until the night before Thanksgiving! That’s why we came up with 5 simple Thanksgiving centerpiece ideas that you can put together in no time. Sure, throwing some smaller white pumpkins on the table would work, but get creative this Thanksgiving and you will have a gorgeous table in no time!
Tone it Down
By the end of November most of us have seen enough of orange, maroon, and moody greens. Opt for a simpler color palette made up of hints of fall color rather than the whole thing. One way to do this is to bring in pieces of nature like branches with greens still on. You can add in candles to lighten up the table and even bring in some of your favorite fruits like pear (instead of red apples). The candles will add a warm glow and accent the muted colors nicely.
Bake the World a Better Place
Let’s be honest, everyone loves stuffing and turkey, but the real centerpiece of Thanksgiving is the pie. Decorate your Thanksgiving table with an assortment of pies and cakes. Having each guest bring a small pie or cake will bring together a multitude of style for you table. Make sure the cakes are mini so that there’s still room on the dining table for dinner! You could even bake up 4-5 mini white cakes and add edible fruits to the top for a more uniform centerpiece look.
Orange You Glad We Didn’t Say Turkey
Grab a bag of clementines and call it a day. Ok, not really (but almost). Some simple flowers in a color of your choice in addition to some citrus makes for a beautiful and colorful centerpiece. Imagine a deep pink roses with some greens and citrus in a center vase. This will give any Thanksgiving table an edgy, deep, yet playful vibe. Oh, and there’s always room for candles.
Hydrangeas and Pumpkins
Not usually a perfect pair, hydrangeas add the perfect complement to mini pumpkins. At this time of year your hydrangea bushes have surely dried to a magnificent array of deep colors like green, violet, and even maroon. Cut some stems off to add a beautiful touch to your table. The smaller pumpkins add a fall element that is visually appealing alongside the more muted colors.
All About That Brass
Visit your local thrift store for some vintage brass pieces. You can use brass serving dishes, or even just bring in a few brass vases or bowls. Add mini pumpkins, pears, and Indian corn for a perfect fall touch. With all of the deeper colors you will need to bring in some white so opt for lighter color linens to really bring out the jewel colors in the centerpieces.
Thanksgiving is about family, friends, and good food…and maybe even some football. These simple centerpiece ideas will make it easy to spend your time enjoying the people that mean the most to you in life.
